Reflection, Research on Appeals Bench Suit Jurist
LOS ANGELES - It was a real dog of a case. Dog, that is, as in Rover, Lassie, Spot, Canis familiaris, the domestic family dog. Justice Robert M. Mallano and his Division 1 colleagues in the 2nd District Court of Appeal were called on last summer to decide whether a doggie-scent lineup - a new technique - should have been accepted as evidence in a murder trial. People v. Mitchell, 110 Cal.App.4th 772 (Cal. App. 2nd Dist. July 18, 2003).
