Court Shortfall Could Force Layoffs

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Dan Oki said Wednesday that a projected $30 million to $40 million statewide shortfall in the court budget is double what the county anticipated in planning for this year's trial court expenses and could force possible layoffs, courtroom closures and the elimination of certain services.
