Court Grants New Murder Trial, Cites Error

LOS ANGELES - Juror No. 5 didn't think the murder defendant was guilty. After reviewing the evidence and talking with his fellow jurors, Juror No. 5 just wasn't convinced the defendant, Roderick Terrell Barber, had shot Darrien Mays in the chest four times in Mays' Long Beach apartment. He was the lone holdout on the deadlocked jury.
