High Court Rules on Tribes' Claims

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Native American Tribes can't sue in federal court and simultaneously pursue remedies for the same allegations in the Court of Federal Claims.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Native American Tribes can't sue in federal court and simultaneously pursue remedies for the same allegations in the Court of Federal Claims.


Writing for the court in the 7-1 decision, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy pointed to the statutory limitation on the claims court's jurisdiction over matters if the plaintiff has another suit pending. ...
