It's the end of an era for California prison inmates seeking federal judges' help in winning parole, the 9th Circuit made clear in opinions filed Tuesday and last week.

It's the end of an era for California prison inmates seeking federal judges' help in winning parole, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals made clear in opinions filed Tuesday and last week.


Hundreds of appeals on the circuit's docket will likely be affected as federal trial judges and appellate panels bow out of state parole matters, according to lawyers involved in the issue.
