Magazine for Prisoners Sues Over Ban

The Prison Legal News is suing Sacramento County on allegations that its refusal to distribute the magazine to jail inmates violates the First Amendment.

A national magazine catering to prisoners is suing Sacramento County for refusing to distribute the publication to jail inmates.


Prison Legal News, a monthly magazine that claims 7,000 subscribers, says the ban by Sheriff Scott Jones is censorship and violates the First Amendment.
