Google Reaches Landmark Deal With FTC

The Mountain View-based internet company agreed to allow an outside monitor of its privacy protections for the next 20 years.

WASHINGTON - Google Inc. agreed to a ground-breaking settlement Wednesday with the Federal Trade Commission to resolve a host of privacy violations and deceptive practices alleged by federal regulators connected to the online behemoth's 2010 launch of Buzz, its social network.
