Dependency court adjusts to media presence

Los Angeles County Juvenile Court Presiding Judge Michael Nash said his order doesn't change existing law. It merely lays out guidelines for allowing the press and public to attend hearings.

MONTEREY PARK - Los Angeles County Juvenile Court Presiding Judge Michael Nash caused a stir recently when he signed an order outlining the rights of the press and public to attend dependency court hearings.


Opponents said he unilaterally changed the law, shifting the burden to children and parents to show why their hearings should be kept private.
