SAN FRANCISCO - The state Supreme Court Monday made it easier for death penalty defense lawyers to get reimbursed for handling post-conviction evidentiary hearings.
The court had previously expected lawyers to bill no more than 300 hours preparing for an evidentiary hearing in a petition for habeas corpus. Anything more than that would require the attorney to prove that the extra hours were warranted. ...
