Judge rules against railroad companies

A district court judge rejected an attempt by railroad companies to hold the South Coast Air Quality Management District in contempt of court for allegedly violating an injunction.

A federal judge ripped into the railroad industry Friday in a court battle over a local air regulator's efforts to curb freight train pollution in the choked Los Angeles air basin.
