San Francisco Bar Association Welcomes New President
The Bar Association of San Francisco held its annual changing-of-the-guard luncheon Tuesday at the Julia Morgan Ballroom to a capacity crowd of law firm and in-house lawyers. Outgoing Association President Arturo González of Morrison & Foerster gave a farewell address before handing over the reigns to incoming President Priya Sanger, senior counsel at Wells Fargo. After modestly insisting her speech would be nothing special, Sanger dazzled the room with stories about her upbringing in Utah, her path to the presidency and why she thinks it's important to bring the in-house bar into the Association's fold. She even dabbled into the political with declarations like, "I like being married, and I think everyone should have a right to be married." The afternoon also included several awards to honor members and supporters who went above and beyond in 2010, including the first annual Community Partner Award, which went to Dr. John York and Denise DeBartolo York of the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco 49ers Foundation.
