Recent Decisions End Trend of Limiting Parolee Privacy Rights

Focus Column - Criminal Law - By Laurie L. Levenson - For California parolees, 2003 hasn't been such a bad year. Two recent cases - one from the state Supreme Court and one from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals - have upheld the right of parolees against unreasonable searches and seizures. Thus, while parolees do not enjoy the rights of other citizens, they maintain some privacy rights.
