City Delays Bratton's Plan for Alarm Response

LOS ANGELES - Police Chief William Bratton's plans to get more officers into the street ran up against political reality Tuesday. The City Council voted Tuesday to delay the new police chief's proposal to end automatic police response to burglar alarms, despite evidence that thousands of the signals are false calls.
