S.F. Firm Was Uncowed by World's Largest Software Maker

SAN FRANCISCO - The California lawyers who led the antitrust charge against Microsoft Corp. took a big gamble on the case. Twice. But the risk paid off last week in the form of a $1.1 billion settlement. Vouchers for up to that amount, redeemable for any company's computer products, will be sent to roughly 13 million companies and consumers who bought Microsoft software.
