Judicial Council meeting focuses on court cuts

Court funding and a pilot project that would hold traffic court via videoconferencing were among the topics discussed Thursday at the Judicial Council's January meeting.

A pilot project to allow courts to use videoconferencing to hear traffic cases received Judicial Council approval at the group's meeting Thursday despite concerns the program could violate defendants' constitutional right to confront their accusers.
