Other social media companies expected to follow Instagram's new arbitration policy

Instagram is adopting provisions in its revised terms of use adding a class action waiver and a clause requiring consumers to submit claims to arbitration, an action that other social media companies are expected to follow.

The change to Instagram's terms of use last month triggered an outcry from users, many of whom quickly fled or threatened to quit the photo-sharing social app for fear the company was claiming ownership rights of their photos and would use them in advertisements.
