California law firms get a slow but steady start in South Korea
Before the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, Korean firms worried that American competitors would dominate the legal marketplace. But now that the doors to Seoul have opened, lawyers say, the fears of large Korean firms have abated.

Ten months after the passage of the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, several American law firms have opened branch offices in Seoul. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, Paul Hastings LLP, O'Melveny & Myers LLP, K&L Gates LLP and even 47-attorney New York-based boutique Cohen & Gresser LLP are among those that have launched outposts to capitalize on the Korean marketplace.
