A new bill is making its way through the Legislature that would dramatically strengthen tenants' rights.
On April 1, the Assembly Judiciary Committee voted 14-0 to pass AB647. Under provisions of the bill, tenants could withhold rent when major code violations exist and be protected from eviction.
