Jurist Tries to See Each Defendant as Individual

LOS ANGELES - When Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Cynthia Rayvis tells jurors that she feels their pain, she truly does. Several months after Gov. Gray Davis appointed Rayvis to the bench in October 2001, she served as a juror on a three-week-long construction-defect case in Santa Monica and learned firsthand what really ticks jurors off - cooling their heels while waiting for attorneys and judges to get it together.
