Letter to the Editor - As a former deputy public defender, I am distressed by the absurd $6.5 million liability verdict against the Los Angeles public defender's office, premised on the fact that hidden police corruption resulted in a wrongful conviction of one of its clients. But my take on a solution, or at least my response to the issue, is different from that of many other defense attorneys.
