Delay Is No Setback to Vioxx Deal, Parties Say

While Merck's decision to extend the deadline for claimants joining its proposed $4.85 billion Vioxx personal-injury settlement was met with some outside speculation the company was not meeting enrollment targets, both the drug maker and plaintiff's lawyers are calling the delay purely administrative.
