High Court Reverses 4th Amendment Grant

The U.S. Supreme Court decided Tuesday that it should not have granted a case involving whether government identification records obtained by authorities at traffic stops can be suppressed by defendants.


WASHINGTON - The U.S. Supreme Court decided Tuesday that it should not have granted a case involving whether government identification records obtained by authorities at traffic stops can be suppressed by defendants as a violation of their Fourth Amendment rights. The court's finding means the New York State Court of Appeals decision, which held the records could not be suppressed, will stand. Tolentino v. New York, 09-11556
