A few observations from Skid Row

Let's do more to address the needs of people who are homeless and the Skid Row community. We don't need to accept homelessness or unhealthy housing as unsolvable problems. By Amos E. Hartston

Los Angeles has the highest street homeless population in the nation. Every two years, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and thousands of volunteers do a point-in-time survey of people who are homeless in Los Angeles County. The last night of this year's count was Jan. 29 in Skid Row. Results are expected soon.


As you consider the results of the count, also consider these five observations from Skid Row.
