State high court reverses itself, but new justices could keep case alive

In an unusual move, the state Supreme Court on Thursday reversed one of its own decisions from just eight years ago, ruling that adults who have oral sex with minors can be punished more harshly than those who have intercourse.

In an unusual move, the state Supreme Court on Thursday reversed one of its own decisions from just eight years ago, ruling that adults who have oral sex with minors are subject to automatic sex offender registration but those who have intercourse with minors are not. The eight-year old decision, People v. Hofsheier, said there was no rational basis to treat the two groups of offenders differently....
