California judges fourth highest paid in country, with a big caveat

Judges in California saw a pay raise in 2013, and are now the fourth highest paid in the nation, according to a recent survey. But with higher living costs factored in, the judges rank just 21st.

California judges are the fourth highest paid in the nation - until you adjust for cost of living, a survey found. Then the Golden State's judiciary ranks 21st.


But the comprehensive study has one big caveat. It doesn't take into account the supplemental salary and benefits many trial judges receive from local counties and courts.
