Former federal judge likes handling big cases

Sacramento mediator Raul A. Ramirez has a gregarious, no-nonsense, aggressive way of speaking that lawyers say is refreshing in a mediation.

SACRAMENTO - Mediator Raul A. Ramirez is no stranger to the spotlight.


In 1977, at the age of 33, he received his first judicial appointment by Gov. Jerry Brown to the Sacramento County Municipal Court. Just three years later, then-President Jimmy Carter appointed him to the Eastern District, making Ramirez one of the country's youngest federal judges.
