Boosted no-poach settlement could embolden plaintiffs' lawyers, judges

Attorneys say the new reportedly revised settlement in the Silicon Valley no-poach class action reinforces a judge's role in protecting the interests of class members, and could strengthen the hand of plaintiffs in future cases.

U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh upset plaintiffs' lawyers and attorneys for Silicon Valley technology giants when she rejected a $324.5 million settlement of a lawsuit by engineers who said the companies conspired to suppress wages.


But it looks like the San Jose federal judge may have gotten results, as a new settlement proposal reportedly raises the settlement to $415 million.
