Judges sue state over pension contributions

Six bench officers claim they should not be subject to the state Public Employees' Retirement Pension Reform Act, or PEPRA, which increased the amount government employees must contribute to their pensions.

Six California superior court judges sued the state, claiming a recent pension reform unfairly cuts into their salaries and singles them out as elected bench officers who rose to their seats from private practice.
