Federal Disability Law Protects Rehabilitated Addicts

Manier - The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals recently sent a confusing and disturbing message to employers who seek to root out illegal drug use at work. The court ruled that Hughes Missiles Systems Co. may be required to rehire an admitted cocaine addict, Joel Hernandez, whom it lawfully had forced to quit in 1991 when he failed a drug test.
