Split Fees

Dicta Column - By JoAnne Earls Robbins - Dividing legal fees with another attorney is not only legal in California, it also can provide the best service to the client as long as the requirements of Rule of Professional Conduct 2-200 are met. If you do not properly document the agreement to divide fees, however, you not only risk discipline by the State Bar for unethical conduct but also put your anticipated share of the recovery at risk.
