DOJ sues state prison system for sex discrimination

Filed in the Central District, the suit requests declaratory and injunctive relief to force the CDCR to create new policies to prevent sexual harassment.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday that it filed a sex discrimination lawsuit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.


Filed in the Central District, the suit alleges that a male cook at the CDCR was sexually harassed by a female co-worker for more than a year. The DOJ also claims that the CDCR failed "to take timely steps to end the harassment or to discipline the harasser...
