Congress must approve emergency budget request
The judicial branch does not have flexibility and resources like other government agencies. As such, it cannot avoid implementing staff furloughs and cost-cutting measures that will only do harm in the future. By Chris Sullivan
We should support the request by the federal judicial branch to the U.S. Office of Management and Budget for $72.9 million in emergency supplemental funding. This request is to help remedy the $350 million shortfall in the branch's budget. It is vital to our justice system that both (1) this request be approved by Congress and (2) the public and the legal community are made aware of the situation our federal court system is facing.
