Family of slain man files tort claim against Long Beach Police Department

The family of Mharloun Saycon, a 39-year-old mentally disabled man shot by police last December while he sat in a chair outside a gaming parlor, is filing a tort claim for $20 million in damages against the Long Beach Police Department.

The family of Mharloun Saycon, a 39-year-old mentally disabled man shot by police last December while he sat in a chair outside a gaming parlor, filed a tort claim Thursday for $20 million in damages against the Long Beach Police Department.

A lawsuit will be filed after 45 days, said plaintiff's attorney Dan Stormer of Hadsell Stormer Renick LLP.
