A report by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts shows a sizable dip in most federal court filings in 2015, including appeals, civil and criminal cases, and bankruptcy matters.
Among the largest drop in federal courts were prisoner petitions, which fell for the first time since 2011, dropping by more than 8,500 filings, or 13 percent since 2014.
