S.F. Politician Pleads Guilty to Corruption Charges

Former San Francisco County Supervisor Edmund Jew pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges of mail fraud, bribery and extortion, admitting that he took $40,000 from a fast-food restaurant in his district in exchange for his help with city planning requirements.

SAN FRANCISCO - Former San Francisco County Supervisor Edmund Jew pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges of mail fraud, bribery and extortion, admitting that he took $40,000 from a fast-food restaurant in his district in exchange for his help with city planning requirements.

But Jew placed some of the blame on other politicians, whom he did not name, saying he learned the practice from them.
