Critics Want to Send Scalia On Vacation in Recusal City

WASHINGTON - For Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, this has been a term in which that nasty word "recusal" keeps cropping up. Last fall, atheist Michael A. Newdow of Sacramento asked Scalia to recuse himself because of his public remarks about the pending battle over inclusion of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Scalia did - without comment - and the court will hear the case in March with only eight justices. Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow, 02-1624.
