Judiciary should defer to lawmakers: nonpartisan analyst

The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office has recommended lawmakers reject the governor's budget language that grants the judiciary sole discretion to determine how to allocate or offset funding cuts.

SACRAMENTO - The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office has recommended lawmakers reject the governor's budget language that grants the judiciary sole discretion to determine how to allocate or offset funding cuts.


Given the magnitude of the cuts to the judiciary - $653 million since fiscal 2008-09 - the report recommends that the Legislature "establish its own funding priorities" ...
