Prosecutors, law enforcement try to keep pace with criminals on use of digital data

Prosecutors are learning how to use digital data to bolster their cases.

For prosecutors and law enforcement agents, the technology behind social media and smartphones is a double-edged sword: the data embedded in digital images can be used by criminals to target victims, but the same data also can be used to catch criminals who are foolish enough to leave digital clues about their crimes.
