Higher filing fees under discussion by court leaders

The proposals under review by lobbyists for the judiciary and leaders of leading bar organizations focus on upping the basic filing fee for unlimited civil cases and making jury deposit fees nonrefundable.

SACRAMENTO - New details are emerging about plans to generate $50 million for the judiciary by raising the civil filing fees parties pay at various times during litigation.


The proposals under review by lobbyists for the judiciary and leaders of prominent bar organizations focus on upping the basic filing fee for unlimited civil cases and making jury deposit fees nonrefundable.
