Actor marketing stipulations questioned

A few Hollywood producers are asking talent to promote TV and movie projects through social media. Some lawyers call it "a win-win," but others say writing such provisions into contracts crosses a dangerous line.

LOS ANGELES - It's often a star actor or award-winning director who draws the biggest audiences to watch a television series' pilot episode or see a movie on opening weekend. And studios commonly require such top-billed talent to lend their star power to the show's or movie's marketing campaign - appearing at red carpet premieres and on late-night talk shows to promote the event.
