California asks high court to strike down immigration law

The California attorney general's office argued that the U.S. Supreme Court should strike down Arizona's contentious immigration law in a brief filed with the court Tuesday.

WASHINGTON - The California attorney general's office argued that the U.S. Supreme Court should strike down Arizona's contentious immigration law in a brief filed with the court Tuesday.


Although states have the authority to police some aspects of immigration, California asserted, the federal government has sole authority over the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
