Judge rules prisoners entitled to in-person parole hearings

A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction on behalf of two prisoners who claimed their statutory right to an in-person parole hearing was violated by the United States Parole Commission's use of video conferencing.

A Los Angeles federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction on behalf of two prisoners who claimed their statutory right to an in-person parole hearing was violated by the United States Parole Commission's use of video conferencing.


U.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer ordered the commission to provide both prisoners with in-person hearings pending appeal. The defense has until April 3 to submit...
