Privacy Disclosure Creates Junk Mail, Not Protection

Have you received more than the usual junk mail lately? Lawyers have been hooked by federal privacy-disclosure legislation used in a sweeping "gill net" fashion against certain professionals. Effective July 1, and each year thereafter, depending on their practice areas, attorneys are required to give to certain clients - consumer clients - a notice describing their firm's privacy-disclosure policies for consumer clients' nonpublic information.
