Riding the wave of paid sick leave legislation across the U.S., Gov. Jerry Brown signed the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act (Assembly Bill 1522) last year. The new law requires employers to provide paid sick leave to employees (with few exceptions) who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days in a year.
