Attorney for chief justice also once sued the State Bar - when she tripped and fell

What takes a fairly typical case a bit out of the ordinary are the very unordinary parties involved and the fact that the bar allowed Beth Jay to postpone filing her suit until four months after the statute of limitations had expired.

Four years ago, Beth Jay, the principal attorney for California's chief justice, stumbled over some buckled sidewalk in front of the State Bar headquarters and badly injured her left shoulder, arm and neck.
