On June 15, the Los Angeles Superior Court will close all 11 branches of the Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court to save about $4.8 Million. The court plans to lay off all 13 informal juvenile referees, who boast about 150 years of bench experience between them. The informal referees run an incredibly cost efficient and cost effective operation - over 77,000 new cases a year at an average cost of $62 per case ($4.8 Million/77,000). T...
