Panel Strikes Down Appeal of Dying Prisoner

A court has rejected an appeal by Deborah Peagler, a former street prostitute dying of cancer who is serving a life sentence for putting a hit on her boyfriend. Her attorneys argue that under current battered women laws the 49-year-old might have gotten a more lenient sentence.
