Immunity for Government Employees Is at Risk

A Santa Clara County public defender who was fired for refusing to talk to his superiors about an alleged misdeed is challenging longstanding immunity rules used to get information out of government employees.

As the California Supreme Court prepares to hear oral argument in Thomas Spielbauer's case this week, attorneys representing public agencies have launched a full court press to fight any changes.
