A decade ago, a wag urged support for Proposition 781. It was, he explained, 187 backward: "Let's throw all the Anglo-Saxons out of California." That subtle exercise in inverted perspective came to mind recently, seeing the sign posted on the lawn of a Riverside Lesbian couple, frustrated by narrow passage of Proposition 8: "Now, let's vote on your marriage."
