Slow bar exam results upset law deans, recent graduates

To many, the length of time it takes to receive bar exam results in California is a tragedy, slowing job hunts and frustrating law school leaders. But speeding the process could compromise accuracy, consistency and fairness.

Robert K. Rasmussen, dean of the USC Gould School of Law, got a happy email from one of his students recently. She'd passed the bar exam in Colorado and had already found a job.


Meanwhile, most of Rasmussen's other graduates are still waiting to get their results from the July bar exam in California, let alone land jobs. Those results aren't due in applicants' hands till Nov. 22...
